Taylor Update: Whistle while you work

Taylor has been LOVING that the peg feeding tube is out! He just looks so much more comfortable overall, but especially when he’s in his bed! LOL

We had a visitor today… his name was Scotty. He’s about 45ish years old and told Taylor about his brain injury and what the Dr’s said he ‘wouldn’t be able to do’… Scotty drives and even runs 5k’s despite his prognosis. Scotty’s accident was 34 years ago.. and he’s doing great! A real inspiration to me, and I’m sure to Taylor as well!

I watched Taylor during the brief visit. Taylor was comfortable sharing how he received his brain injury. Both Scotty and his Mom were just blown away by Taylor and all that he can do!

It was an interesting exchange… even though it was short, it was like they had a bond. Scotty went around and shook all of our hands, and he reminded me of Taylor – with how respectful he was to us… how kind he was… and how encouraging he was.

I’m really glad they stopped by!

Therapy today was more detail focused, rather than strength focused… but still included vision exercises! I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THAT!! I am so glad that the therapy teams sees his slight improvements and are doing what they can to help encourage his brain to develop new pathways for his vision!! PENNY!!

During some down time in his room, T discovered he can whistle again! PENNY!!

His walking is improving so much, it amazes me to watch the recordings. Even though it seems like forever… it’s only been six weeks!!!

His Sissy heads back to college soon, so they are getting some extra time in together. T is so encouraging to Samantha.. reminding her how important college is and that he will keep getting better… and not to worry. ❤️

Joshua had an interview today – it’s a job he is really excited about!! I have been thinking of him a lot too today… he’s been so great taking care of things back home. I am just so proud of how both of our kids are helping and supporting Taylor’s Journey! Taylor even had a “brother to brother” good luck message for Josh today 🙂

It was a great day… but I just KNOW tomorrow will be even better!!

Scotty’s injury was over 3 decades ago… and he is still touching people with his story… Wow, I have a lot to learn…

Sometimes days feel rough.. but let us all remember that there are so many others struggling with so much more… and believe it or not, there are many people out there who are struggling with all that, and still doing good things with their lives, like encouraging an 18 year old drowning victim. Thanks Scotty!!

Until tomorrow… WE LOVE YA’LL!!!
